SCO GT 2019 R5 Review

CoRe Finishes 3rd In Final SCO GT Round!

The last round of the 2019 Sports Car Open GT Series was held at the Virginia International Raceway for a six hours race. The unusual selection of the track showed close battles but also tough crashes with the slower Porsche class. After a long race in hot weather CoRe SimRacing’s Carl Jansson finished the race on the podium with the help of Janne Kiuru who took over a for a single stint.

The CoRe SimRacing GT team was able to qualify on 3rd position. Carl was fighting against Euronics Biela Racing’s Audi R8 in front while he had to defend against JIM’s Z4 behind. After a couple of laps later Carl was finally making the successful overtake against Biela Racing for 2nd. Due to tricky traffic and incidents the CoRe AMG GT3 suffered two drive-through penalties. This made them fall back to 3rd – with a lot of time lost, both Janne and Carl were not able to make the time up again and could only secure the 3rd spot on the podium.

The team ended up 5th overall in the GT3 championship. CoRe also finished the season 5th in the GT3-Pro category. After this result the team will now focus on the 3rd season of the Sports Car Open series and the 24h Series by NEO. The broadcast can be found here.
