NEO 24H Series R2 Review

CoRe TCR Squad Secures Podium At COTA!

The second round of the NEO 24h Esports Series was taking place at the Circuit Of The Americas for a six hours race. CoRe SimRacing and its’ TCR team including Thomas Gibson, Carl Jansson and crew chief Marius Golombeck were not able to beat CraigSetupShops’ flawless performance once again – but nevertheless they did secure a very solid and deserved 2nd place in the TCR class though.

Thomas was able to qualify the CoRe Audi RS3 onto the second position on the grid – just missing out a hundredth just behind Jack Sedgewick’s CraigSetupShop car who was also starting their race. When the green flag was up the start took off pretty safely. A quick drama in the Porsche Cup car class made few cars of those spin in turn one but the famous COTA hill cleared right before the TCRs attacked the first corner. Thomas had to defend early peaks from Apex Racing and RaceKraft behind but could advance the gap later on by chasing down CraigSetupShop and saving a lot of fuel for CoRe’s advantage. Therefor an additional lap in stint one was possible.

CoRe enjoyed the lead for a short period of time after Thomas overtook out of the draft on the backstraight .The lead was given away shortly after by missing the braking point for turn one. Thomas gave over to Carl after his double stint, but CraigSetupShops pace was untouchable around the half of the race already. Carl continued to safely maneuver the CoRe car around the track before the last two hours were shared by both. Six hours later CoRe finished 2nd in the TCR class and secured valuable points once again. The team plans to continue with consistent performance in the next round, the six hours of Silverstone.
